Different Kit types

Genotyping

Genotyping measures 0.02% of the DNA, which is approximately 500,000 to 1 million positions and powerful statistical approaches such as 'imputation' are used to fill in the blanks. Genotyping is the most cost-effective tool for genetics research, especially in common diseases.

Whole Exome Sequencing

Deeply profiles all know protein-coding regions ~40,000,000 bases. The gap in percentage profiled between this & whole-genome may seem huge, but approx 85% of known disease related variants are included here.

Whole Genome Sequencing

Measures nearly 100% of the human genome, which is ~3,000,000,000 bases. This is the most comprehensive and future-proof option, though cost may also reduce as technology advances.
